Recently, the Nakornpayap International School High School Concert Band showcased Band Together, a concert that took place on Wednesday, March 18th at 4:30 p.m. at the Harmony Theatre. This concert featured performances from high school students in grades 9 and above, as well as professional instrumentalists from the CPO (Chiang Mai Philharmonic Orchestra) participating in a few select pieces from Senior Band.
This event marked the first concert with an arranged song from one of the individuals in the band, making the last song, Children of Sanchez, an important moment for them to showcase the amount of effort they put towards composing the song. The piece was arranged by seniors Benny and Maxime, with Benny and Todd as soloists on classical guitar and flugelhorn, respectively.

Before the concert, there was a brief moment of silence from the audience as the Grade 9 Band played the national anthem in respect of the King of Thailand. This moment has been a cultural addition at many events with a popular example being the movies, and this anthem is used to establish unity while showing reverence for the monarchy. Afterwards, the host introduced the next band performance, leading the event into the Grade 9 Concert Band’s set: Pachelbel’s Canon, Peer Gynt Suite, and Radetzky March. The Senior Band’s performance soon followed, playing Second Suite in F, Palladio, and Children of Sanchez.
The NIS Concert Band successfully reflected the results of their practice in the music room, with every concert acting as a meaningful opportunity for students to express themselves through instruments. We hope to see you at the next concert — it will be incredible!
