In this academic year, two Grade 11 students, Ruby and Ian, started a new club called ALIVE Club. ALIVE means Action, Learning, Internship, Volunteering, and Experience, and the name perfectly reflects the club’s mission — learning by doing and helping others in real life.
Under Mr. Paul’s guidance, the ALIVE Club has attracted many high school students to join. It has developed into a meaningful organization that provides students with opportunities to serve others.

Recently, ALIVE Club launched a one-month fundraising and volunteer initiative encouraging students to donate food to children in orphanages. A special feature of this campaign is its grade-level competition format, which is open to participants from kindergarten, middle school, and high school students. Each week has a different theme: Rice, Noodles, Sauce and Seasonings.
All donated food items must have at least six months remaining before their expiration date. At the end of the four weeks, the grade that donates the most will win a prize — grade points and even a pizza party.
Every week, members have the meeting to plan activities and share ideas. The club is organized into different teams, including the media, finance, and event planning team. The Marketing Team handles promotion and social media, the Finance Team manages attendance, budgets, and purchases, and the Event Planning Team organizes activities and assigns roles to members. Each member is responsible for their assigned tasks, which helps the organization operate more efficiently. Miffy and Esther from the media team shared that their main responsibility is designing posters. Esther expressed that she was proud to be involved in this event and enjoyed her role in informing the middle school department about it. When asked why she chose to participate, another member, Amy, explained that the activity also contributed to her community service hours.
The first two week’s rice and noodles donation was a great success. (The top rice donors for week one were: ECC’s purple team: 52kg; Grade 6: 32.9kg; and Grade 10: 85kg, total:328.9kg. The top noodle donors for the second week were: ECC’s Yellow Team: 25.68kg; Grade 6: 10.91kg; Grade 10: 13.75kg; and total: 108.91kg.) Students from different grades worked together to contribute to the campaign. Of course, organizing and running this event was not an easy task. Ruby mentioned that the club had originally planned to visit the orphanage immediately after the donation drive. However, due to the Songkran holiday and schedule adjustments at the orphanage, the visit had to be postponed until May. Since many of the donated items are perishable, the club needed to deliver the supplies in advance. Despite these challenges, the team worked hard to resolve the issues and ensure the project progressed smoothly.

Throughout this event, we sincerely thank all the students and parents for their support and contributions. The ALIVE Club has demonstrated strong teamwork, showing that everyone’s effort can help create something meaningful and positive. Sauce Week and Powder Week are still ongoing, and we look forward to everyone’s continued participation.
