Winter carnival, which is taking place from 4:00–9:00 PM, December 18th, 2025 at the ES field, is one of the most exciting activities that NIS students and teachers look forward to. Families, students, teachers and our friends from outside NIS all come together to enjoy delicious food, watch performances and visit fun booths. It is a night when NIS makes you feel like you are at home! Don’t miss it!
As the booth registration period for winter carnival has been extended to December 3rd, the final opportunities for registration have closed.
Performances:
This year, students who are performing are mainly those who have already taken part in Winter Carnival before. Mia (G11) will be performing with Beverly (G11) and Julie (G12) for “Toxic”. Mia is also taking the stage with Beverly (G11) to dance “Style”, and they shared that they choose these songs because they all enjoy the music and rhythm.
Another exciting performance this year will be brought to the stage by Mona (G11), Miffy (G11) and Nicole (G11). The group will be performing Golden, and they have been preparing for approximately one month. Mona shared that she really liked the song because the lyrics have a positive meaning, so the song would be a good choice to perform in front of the NIS community!
What’s more, the Dance After School Activity Club, which is guided by Mr. First, is preparing for the Winter Carnival Stage as well! Dancers from grade 11 and grade 12 have been practicing for about one month, meeting twice a week. They will be dancing “City Girls” and “Drinks or Coffee”.
In addition to dance performances, a student band will also be performing live at Winter Carnival this year! Jerry (G11), Julie (G12), Justin (G11), RJ (G9) and Monet (G9) are planning to bring 6 songs to the stage! With energetic music and talented skills, they are ready to bring excitement and happiness as the semester ends. As shared by Jerry, he has been practicing with his teammates for two weeks already.
Can’t wait to see their performance!
Booths:
The student council Catalyst has played an important role in the Winter Carnival this year. According to Fight (G11), the student council president, there will also be a booth for the Catalyst! The booth will include a prize draw where participants can win rewards from a prize pool. After the first semester of the year, this event would bring energy, interaction and celebration for Winter Carnival.
“I think the Winter Carnival is the event that brings NIS together as a community. Students, teachers and parents could come together and enjoy the festival,” says Fight. He also adds, “One thing that I am especially excited about Winter Carnival is visiting the booths, particularly the food part.”

Kaka (G11) will be running a booth together with David Min (G11) and Leah (G11), offering two kinds of homemade cheesecakes: Basque-style and New York-Style cheesecakes. According to Kaka, he chose to sell desserts because baking is one of his personal hobbies. In the past, Kaka shared cakes made by him to other students, and received a lot of likes. In addition to the cheesecakes, the three students will be selling stationery.
Another booth is run by the student-led club Alive, led by Ruby (G11) and Ian (G11). They are raising funds for the upcoming volunteering to the orphanage. As mentioned by Ian, he will be selling some drinks and bronnies with Ruby for this event. He also shared that the Alive Official Instagram account has posts about their booth (picture attached below). Make sure you visit their post and support them!

The student-led enterprise Sweet Givings will be selling freshly baked Christmas cookies and drinks at their booth, offering sweets great as a gift or a treat for yourself. These treats are homemade by students and come in different shapes and colors that match the Christmas theme. Of course, 100% of their profit would be donated to support communities in need.

One booth Squishy will be run by Maisy (G11) and Grace (G11), offering handmade crafts and keychains. They will be offering squishy balls, miniature crafts, stationery, keychains and more. If you are looking for a cute gift for your friends for Christmas, the booth has something for everyone!
Don’t hesitate to stop by!
