Last week, Friday, November 21. NIS participated in this year’s two-day CMMUN. Over 20 students from our school participated in this MUN and became one of the delegations. They have won several awards for our school and for themselves. It is fascinating that all the delegates have pushed themselves to their best to attend this year’s CMMUN. It is not only about winning an award, but also about having self-improvement and achieving new skills. All of our delegates accomplished their goals, making this a moment truly worth celebrating. Some of them are their first time attend MUN. It was truly an honor to interview several of our school’s delegates and hear about their MUN experiences.

After interviewing those fantastic delegates, we are honored to have a chance to interview Eric Xin, grade 10. He’s not a delegate during this year’s CMMUN, but he has a special role, which is parliamentarian. This is totally different from what normal delegates have to do during the conference, but important to have him.
What is your job, and what do you have to do?
Eric Xin: In this year’s CMMUN November conference, LANNA Secretariat has invited me to be the parliamentarian/ombudsman – me and Anita from LANNA. My job is totally different from a delegate or a chair; it has half the power as a secretariat, it requires MUN experience and understanding in deeply, especially the RoP (Rules of Procedure). The main job for me is following
1. Checking AI for position paper, speech, and, more importantly, every resolution that passes to GA, where we will interview to check their understanding of it.
2. Walking around during the conference to make sure delegate are not using their phone, playing games, and any form of AI.
3. Solve any conflicts that happened during the conference
Did you catch anybody who is not paying attention to the conference or using AI?
Do you feel surprised when you got invited to do this job?
Thanks to all those talented and hard-working students for helping us gain deeper knowledge about Mun and providing us with many interesting experiences. Making this year’s CMMUN such a memorable experience. The story we heard has crossed through new delegates, to the award winner, and even an admin team member. We are proud of what all those delegates have achieved and the growth they have accomplished.
