Over 15 boys showed up to the basketball tryouts last week, all with one goal; earning a spot on the team. From layups and vertical jumping to fast-paced scrimmages, the players tried their hardest to show their determination and skills. Everyone wanted to make the team and support the Stallions in succeeding in the new season ahead.
The tryout that occurred represents more than just determining a team. They reflect the direction that the basketball team is headed to this year. Coach Carlos said he wanted to create better combinations to make the team work better together, show more leadership, and try harder than in previous years. These are the qualities that make a sports team grow and make the school proud. During the tryouts, the players went through basic tests for the coach to see their foundational skills.

Coach Carlos also had the players perform their advanced strategic practices by showing their skills in a real game. Coach Carlos also stated his goals of the season, saying, “Our main goal for this season is to win as many games as possible.” He also later highlighted the importance of support from fans and added, “Players play better when more are watching and cheering.” With strong teamwork and encouragement from the NIS community, the team can definitely reach its pull potential.

With the finalized roster, the boy’s basketball team has already participated in the first training session, focusing on foundational skills to warm up the players before moving on to more advanced plays and strategies. The team is preparing for their upcoming matchup against Grace International School this week, which will be the first opportunity for the team to show their chemistry. With a fresh start and a bright season ahead, the Stallions are ready to grow, compete, and make an impact.
