The Alive Club is a fully student-led organization that aims to provide meaningful outdoor internships and volunteering opportunities beyond the school. The club is led by two talented Grade 11 students, Ian and Ruby.
“Alive Club is made for students to complete 20 hours of outside volunteering activity, and let them experience and gain skills,” says one of the creators, Ian.
Their goal is to help every student who wants to complete their volunteering hours or gain real-world experience.
Co-creator Ruby calls The club’s mission “straightforward yet vital”: to connect students with local organizations, environmental groups, and community events, allowing them to fulfill their volunteering requirements while contributing positively to society. Ruby goes on to inform that “through these partnerships, students discover potential career interests and develop important life and professional skills.”
After their club meeting last Wednesday, members decided to focus on four major areas of service: orphanages, animal shelters, medical support, and education.
As a budding club, the members still have much to organize, but more than 20 students have already come together to ensure the club stays on the right track. After several discussions, they decided that their first volunteering activity will take place either at the end of this quarter or at the start of Quarter 3.
As the club moves forward, club members will keep working on all those events and make them happen to help more and more students. Contact them if you are interested in it!
